Jo lives in  Berlin, Germany after moving there from Derbyshire, UK in 2007. Berlin offers the diversity of a busy city, but also quiet forest and lakes.

"The contrast between summer and winter feels like two completely different cities giving me a wealth of inspiration to paint and draw from. I found the trees in winter, and the lacy shadows they cast, compelled me to complete a series of detailed ink drawings. More recently small ink drawings became large oil paintings of bicycles, another feature of Berlin, that seem to have personalities of their own!"
